This intimate, inspiring retreat will include 3 full days of skill-building tutorials, lectures, trunk shows and more, but most of the time, you'll have a chance to work on your own projects in a stunning, relaxing setting that encourages your unique slow stitching journey and sharing your time with like-minded old and new friends. Our Autumn retreat will be held at the beautiful, full service Doubletree by Hilton Bloomington Minneapolis South, Minnesota.

Centrally located in Bloomington, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bloomington will be host to the amazing Original Sewing and Quilt Expo beginning immediately after the Slow Stitching Movement Getaway: Autumn 2015 concludes convenient to Eastland Mall and Miller Park Zoo. This family-friendly hotel is within close proximity of Illinois Wesleyan University and Prairie Aviation Museum.  Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities, including an indoor pool, a spa tub, and a 24-hour fitness center. Additional amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access, gift shops/newsstands, and shopping on site. Guests can get around on the complimentary shuttle, which operates within 10 miles.

 During the retreat, international quilt teacher and designer, Mark Lipinski will give his lecture "The Slow Stitching Movement: Creating, Promoting, and Sustaining a New Vision in Quilt Making", why he started The Slow Stitching Movement, and how retreats such as this one can help quilters slow down to deepen both their creative skills and satisfaction levels. Mark will also share his secrets to daily process journaling for increased creativity, developing your legacy project, and will share the current projects he's working on, and resources that inspire him.

Nationally known author/designer/teacher 
Cyndi Souder will share her slow-stitching projects and inspiration, and as a special guest teacher with teach her QuiltWriting Technique and present an empowering lecture, A Memorable Journey, which illuminates her approach to creating lasting legacy quilts. 

Renowned modern stitching designer, teacher, and author 
Ruth Chandler will join us on our retreat as a special guest teacher, offering tutorials on making beautiful embroidered needlebooks, created using Ruth’s modern stitching methods.

 Both Cyndi and Ruth will be selling and autographing their books for participants.
